Sophie’s Room is a bright, comfortable upstairs space designed for guests who value quiet, privacy, and a restful place to recharge. Located on the second story at the back of this century‑old home, Sophie’s is the southern‑most room on the property, offering soft natural light during the day and room‑darkening curtains for uninterrupted sleep at any hour. This makes it an excellent choice for travel nurses working swing or grave shifts, as well as solo travelers, couples, small groups, or an adult traveling with a child. The room features a comfortable double/full bed, with a single rollaway available upon request for a third guest.
A large picture window gives the room an open, airy feel while still maintaining privacy. The spacious chest of drawers provides generous storage—ideal for longer stays or guests who prefer to fully unpack and settle in. Like all guest rooms in the home, Sophie’s includes a worktable or desk, high‑speed 5G+ internet, and a SAD light bulb to support balanced lighting during darker months. These features make the room well‑suited for remote work, studying, or simply enjoying a quiet evening in.
Guests staying upstairs share a bathroom with one other room, and a microwave is conveniently located in the hall for quick meals or late‑night snacks. The home itself blends original architectural details with modern comforts, including smart lighting in public areas and a nightly whole‑house alarm system for added peace of mind. Shared spaces—such as the living room with TV, dining area, and fully equipped kitchen—are located on the main floor and available for guest use. Free street or driveway parking is provided, and motorcycles or bicycles may be stored securely in the locked garage.
The neighborhood is quiet, friendly, and walkable. Guests can easily reach restaurants, fast food, the Riverwalk, and the Harbor Viewing Tower. The local hospital is just a 4–6‑minute drive away, and a free shuttle stop for hospital workers sits only three houses down at the historic Olympic Stadium. Whether you’re here for work, rest, or exploration, Sophie’s Room offers a peaceful, well‑equipped, and welcoming home base in Hoquiam.

In 2015 I purchased this 1928 home and move to Hoquiam. I opened my four extra bedrooms to travelers with pets. A need inspired me to open Leah’s in Hoquiam Doggy Daycare and Boarding. Since COVID it’s just Lady here with me now. Any spare moment usually finds me reading.
