Rufus Room is a spacious, comfortable main‑floor retreat designed for guests who appreciate easy access, generous space, and the ability to step directly into the outdoors. Located on the ground level of this century‑old two‑story home, Rufus offers a flexible bed setup—either an extra‑large double/king or two single/twin beds—making it ideal for solo travelers, travel nurses, couples, coworkers, friends traveling together, or a parent and child. Guests with dogs especially enjoy this room, thanks to its private slider that opens directly onto the pergola, deck, and fully fenced backyard.
The room includes a worktable or desk, high‑speed 5G+ internet, and a SAD light bulb to support balanced lighting during darker months. Its generous layout provides plenty of room to unpack, settle in, and feel at home. Because Rufus is on the main floor, guests have the easiest access to shared spaces: the living room with TV, the dining area, and the fully equipped kitchen. Much of the home’s original architecture remains, giving the space a warm, historic feel while still offering modern conveniences like smart lighting in public areas.
Guests on the main floor share a bathroom with one other room. Free street or driveway parking is available, and motorcycles or bicycles may be stored securely in the locked garage. A whole‑house alarm system is active nightly (seasonal schedule) to provide additional peace of mind.
The neighborhood is quiet, friendly, and walkable. Guests can stroll to restaurants, fast food, the Riverwalk, or the Harbor Viewing Tower. The local hospital is just a 4–6‑minute drive away, and a free shuttle stop for hospital workers is conveniently located three houses down at the historic Olympic Stadium. Whether you’re here for work, rest, or exploration, Rufus Room offers comfort, flexibility, and a welcoming home base for your stay in Hoquiam.

In 2015 I purchased this 1928 home and move to Hoquiam. I opened my four extra bedrooms to travelers with pets. A need inspired me to open Leah’s in Hoquiam Doggy Daycare and Boarding. Since COVID it’s just Lady here with me now. Any spare moment usually finds me reading.
